After a construction time of almost 200 years, Notre Dame de Paris was completed in 1345 on the ground of the former Parisian cathedral (which the newly inplemented Bishop of Paris, Maurice de Sully, had regarded as unworthy). It is today the embodiment of a gothic-style church and magnet to literally millions of visitors every year (which is probably caused by Notre Dame's vivid and repeating occurence in literature, movie and computer-games). Without question the most well known piece of novel to feature this fine piece of architecture is The Hunchback of Notre Dame (titled in French simply Notre Dame de Paris) by Victor Hugo.
Notre Dame measures 63 m at the top of its towers (43 m without them) and 41 m in width.
